Film Preview

Hi everyone!

Last week, I took a film about review of burger stores near Hanyang University. This project is progressed with Min Hyewon, Lee Jieun and Shin Jinhyeon. We chose McDonald, Burger Show, Lotteria, Valance burger and Mom’s touch. The assessment is not only about taste, but also about materials, distance, price, and side menu. The side menu is French fries. The assessment was made by opinions of all our members.

In this project, my role was preparing burger, acting and editing a video. And almost of videos were taken by me. Ah, there was eating burgers also. Editing a video was very very hard for me. However, after I finished editing, it was really worthwhile.

Thanks for my all members.

Partner Vlog! ( Gym Exercise )

Hi everyone! This time, I took a vlog with Beomju.

The topic of the vlog is ‘How to do gym exercise?’ and the purpose of this video is to teach me and other people who watch this video how to do gym exercise.

I will introduce two exercises in this clip. One is a push-up and the other is a squat. Beomju taught me about exercises and I learned how to exercise.

Our intended audience is the people who want to learn how to exercise.

I’ve never made Vlog before, but it was so much fun. Actually I enjoyed the editing process the most during the vlogging. It was amazing experience that simple videos became special through this editing process. However, it was embarrassing to film it outside where people were passing by during the filming process. Everything was good except embarrassing.

The below video is my first vlog.

Is MSG safe?

MSG is used in the food industry as a flavor enhancer with an umami taste that intensifies the meaty, savory flavor of food, as naturally occurring glutamate does in foods such as stews and meat soups. MSG has been used for over a hundred years and today is commonly found in soups, ramen, gravy, stews, condiments, savory snacks etc. It was first prepared in 1908 by Japanese biochemist Kikunae Ikeda. He was trying to isolate and duplicate the savory taste of kombu, an edible seaweed used as a base for many Japanese soups. MSG as a flavor enhancer balances, blends, and rounds the perception of other tastes. There has been a lot of controversy about safety of MSG. let’s see perspective seeing MSG as harmful. First, the controversy surrounding the safety of MSG arose starting in April 1968, when Robert Ho Man Kwok wrote a letter to the New England Journal of Medicine, coining the term “Chinese restaurant syndrome (CRS)”. He said the most prominent symptoms are numbness at the back of the neck, gradually radiating to both arms and the back, general weakness and palpitations. People who see MSG as harmful claim that Chinese Restaurant Syndrome (CRS) originates from MSG. (reference: https://cafe.naver.com/windstopper/40529)

Second, there was an experiment to test the side effects of MSG. It was an experiment to inject excessive MSG into mice. Then researchers found something wrong with the tissue of the mouse’s brain. This experiment result is one of the reasons why people are opposed to using MSG.

Lastly, People claim that MSG has the risk of abuse and addiction because it can easily flavor food. They consider MSG to be dangerous because it is not only harmful to the human body but addictive.

However, there are also perspective seeing MSG as safe. First, People who see MSG as safe said MSG is not a cause of CRS. In the case of CRS, subsequent repeated experiments show no link between the symptoms and MSG. And it can occur even if other foods are ingested. As a result, CRS is recognized as just a kind of allergic reaction not caused by MSG. (reference: https://ryungrae.blog.me/220979841073)

Watch a video below for explanation about CRS.

Second, Side effect tests were also problematic. Side effect test was wrong to give a hypodermic injection, not an intake. Excessive injections are not a suitable experimental method for MSG’s harmfulness. Also, excessive injections are toxic to rodents, but not to humans or primates. (reference: https://ryungrae.blog.me/220979841073)

Lastly, MSG was already proven its safety. The U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO) jointly evaluated toxicity of MSG and said, “Sodium L-glutamate (MSG) is not likely to cause health risks.” The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) also found that there was no evidence of MSG harming the human body.         (reference: https://blog.naver.com/jjy0501/100169117380)

There is still controversy over the safety of MSG and there are still more people who believe it is dangerous. However, MSG is definitely safe in scientific view.

There is no evidence for perspective seeing MSG as harmful.

As I mentioned above, tests and hypotheses on the dangers of MSG have already been proven in scientific ways. In fact, there is no basis for all claims that MSG is unhealthy. They just say that MSG is harmful.

MSG already exists in the natural world.

In fact, MSG is also found in milk, tomatoes, soy sauce, cheese, beans, meat, and so on. In addition, the first discovery of MSG is also the ingredient of dried kelp, which is often used in Japanese food. There is no difference between natural MSG and artificial MSG. Our bodies don’t even distinguish the same material by source. (reference: https://blog.naver.com/moeblog/221251303649)

MSG can reduce sodium intake.

Rather, the use of MSG can reduce the amount of salt that goes into food. A study found that sodium intake can be reduced by 24% when using small amounts of MSG. It has been proven that ingestion of sodium is harmful to the body if it is high. Therefore, the use of MSG may be beneficial for your health beyond being safe.

Watch a video below for explanation about this.

Anything too much is bad. Moderate MSG use can reduce sodium intake and is not harmful to health. Don’t worry and eat.

[Survey] Are you introvert or extrovert?

Hi, I’m HB! Today’s post is not about a movie review but about a personality survey. The topic of the survey is ‘Are you introvert or extrovert?’

The survey was conducted by 22 people and consisted of 7 questions.

The 7 questions are:

  • Q1. When you meet a new person, do you talk to him or her first? A. Yes / B. No / C. Different each time
  • Q2. Do you like to eat alone in a restaurant?
    A. Yes / B. No / C. Different each time
  • Q3. Do you like shoppint with friends?
    A. Yes / B. No / C. Different each time
  • Q4. Who would you like to spend your birthday with on your birthday? A. With friends / B. With family / C. Alone
  • Q5. If you are going on a trip would you like to go alone or with firends? A. Go alone / B. With friends
  • Q6. Would you like to study together in the studyroom or alone in the library? A. Study together in studyroom / B. Alone in library / C. Different each time
  • Q7. Do you like to watch movies alone in the movie theater?
    A. Yes / B. No / C. Different each time

Before the survey results were released, I and my partner expected that introvert and extrovert tendencies would be almost 50 to 50.

But actually the conclusions showed that the extrovert propensity was slightly more prevalent. Because the answers for question from 1 to 5 show that there are more extrovert people than introvert.

However interestingly the answers for question 6 and 7 show opposite result. It was more prevalent to study alone than to study with a friend. Also people said that to watch movie in theater alone is better than with friends.
We can learn how you study and whether you watch movie alone or with a friend are different from your personality.

[Movie Review] Along With the Gods: The Two Worlds (2017) (신과함께-죄와벌)

Hi, I’m HB! The topic of this post is movie review! Finally, this blog’s first movie review has begun! Rather than evaluating a movie, I’ll inform you about it. It’s a purpose of my blog.

I thought a lot about which movie to go first. I decided to make it one of the movies that I enjoyed, and it’s a ‘Along With the Gods: The Two Worlds’. This movie has been a huge success not only in Korea but also in the Southeast Asian market.

The first review was prepared in Podcast format. In particular, I invited Kim Ho-jung to talk about the movie together. We talked about what was good and what features were in the movie.

Since this is a blog that introduces movies, many people who like movies will see my blog. And especially this podcast is for people who are curious about the Fantasy movie or computer graphic in Korea. If you are so, I recommend you to see it.

Self-Introduction & Avengers 4(End Game)-Main Trailer and Poster

Hi. I’m 26 years old and my nickname is HB. I live in Seoul, South Korea and major in chemistry at Hanyang University. My hometown Gwang-ju is so far away from my campus. So I live near my campus.

In these days, I’m interested in two things. First one is a editing video. But I don’t know anything about video editing. I just guess editing my video and making my series are so funny. So I want to learn or experience video editing skill someday. For example, I can search a video editing club in my university. Second one is a watching movies & collecting my own  masterpieces. Through this blog, I will introduce my favorite movies to you.

Now, I’m looking forward to the release of ‘The Avengers 4-End Game’. This video is its main trailer and image is its poster.
